Big Dan's Big News Dec 2, 2007, Snow Edition!

(Winter Wonderland! Here in NEPA, we welcome in December with 4 inches of snow!)

· This story was ignored by the national corporate-owned mainstream media! Cryer, a gutsy attorney from Shreveport, Louisiana, actually took on the income tax “beast” and won his July 2007 court case; “The Supreme Court has ruled that the government cannot impose an income tax on anything but profits and gains. When you work for someone, you give your service and labor in exchange for money, so everything you make is not profit or gain. You put something into it.”Cryer said this income tax system is conceivably worse than conventional slavery.“The only difference between a slave and an ignorant man is that the slave feels his chains,” he said. His Mark Twain-style remarks were met with considerable applause.

· When Wharton County, Texas citizen Jim Welch voted last Tuesday, he watched in disbelief as the voting machine changed the vote he'd entered a few moments earlier. The machine was an ES&S iVotronic touch-screen, the same model recently subjected to a blistering Dan Rather investigative report, but what Welch witnessed does not seem explainable as a manufacturing defect or screen calibration problem like those exposed in Rather's report. The case has earmarks that may indicate election fraud. (bd: Gee! We have ES&S electronic voting machines here in Luzerne County, NEPA!)

· If it passes, this last-minute, unilateral change to the rules will almost undoubtedly hand the presidency to the Republican nominee next year.

· 28 retired generals and admirals plan to release a letter on Friday urging Congress to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law; which is responsible for over 12,000 soldiers being discharged. 65,000 gay men and lesbians now serve in the American armed forces and that there are more than one million gay veterans.

· Today's Republicans might not elect Reagan. They want to put his face on Mount Rushmore, but Republicans today are demanding such ideological purity that they might not even nominate Ronald Reagan for president if he were to run now. Abortion? He was for abortion rights before he was against them. Taxes? He raised them as governor, and raised them several times as president after his big 1981 tax cuts. Immigration? He signed the law that Republicans now call amnesty for illegals. Foreign policy? He negotiated with the head of the "Evil Empire." In fact, they'd find him wrong on almost every hot-button issue of the 2008 campaign.
