● Gov. Eliot Spitzer's political career teetered on the brink of collapse Monday after the corruption-fighting politician once known as "Mr. Clean" was accused of paying for a romp with a high-priced call girl. (bd: I don't know if you've noticed this bias, but whenever a Democrat is in a scandal or does something crazy, they mention "Democrat" right up front. If it doesn't mention the party, it's usually a Republican, as you'll note in the next article about Tim Couch. Now you will begin to notice this, after I've mentioned it to you. When Republicans are caught in scandals: 1) if they're gay, they commit themselves to alcholol rehab like Mark Foley, or 2) if they're not gay, like Senator Vitter, they say that God forgave them and they rebuke the devil! Now for this guy: WHAT AN IDIOT! What will HIS strategy be?).

More on Spitzer: A prominent New York lawyer who has written for Harper's Magazine about the politically-motivated dismissals of US Attorneys in the Bush Justice Department says he believes there's a strong case that the fall of New York governor Eliot Spitzer was politically motivated.

Even more on Spitzer: The federal investigation of a New York prostitution ring was triggered by Gov. Eliot Spitzer's suspicious money transfers, initially leading agents to believe Spitzer was hiding bribes, according to federal officials. Political Sex Scandals ReduxIt was only months later that the IRS and the FBI determined that Spitzer wasn't hiding bribes but payments to a company called QAT, what prosecutors say is a prostitution operation operating under the name of the Emperor's Club. As recently as this past Valentine's Day, Feb. 13, Spitzer, who officials say is identified in a federal complaint as "Client 9," arranged for a prostitute "Kristen" to meet him in Washington, D.C.
