Big Dan's Big News Dec 26, 2009

FAKER! Michele Bachman is a Welfare Queen, not a TeaBagger!

She's pretending to be a "crazy rightwing Evangelical conservative" and she's sold the teabaggers down the road. She should get an academy award for her performance. She is for handouts for herself and the rich, and against "handouts" for the middleclass and poor. She is nothing but an actress who is faking being a religious conservative, and has played the teabaggers like a fiddle for her own gain. She's every bit as FAKE as the quitter-turned-talk-show-circuit-queen Sarah Palin.

Data compiled from federal records by Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit watchdog that tracks the recipients of agricultural subsidies in the United States, shows that Bachmann has an inner Marxist that is perfectly at ease with profiting from taxpayer largesse. According to the organization’s records, Bachmann’s family farm received $251,973 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2006. The farm had been managed by Bachmann’s recently deceased father-in-law and took in roughly $20,000 in 2006 and $28,000 in 2005, with the bulk of the subsidies going to dairy and corn. Both dairy and corn are heavily subsidized—or “socialized”—businesses in America (in 2005 alone, Washington spent $4.8 billion propping up corn prices) and are subject to strict government price controls. These subsidies are at the heart of America’s bizarre planned agricultural economy and as far away from Michele Bachmann’s free-market dream world as Cuba’s free medical system. If American farms such as hers were forced to compete in the global free market, they would collapse.

Stay tuned for video 2, where GOD betrays Michele Bachmann & the Republicans:

The Birthplace of Jesus Is ‘Under Siege’ This Christmas

As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, owners of tourism shops in Bethlehem aren't seeing the booming business they'd expect this time of year. Nour Odeh reports on how Israel's illegal occupation may be keeping the West Bank's tourism industry from thriving.

Christianity in Palestine: Misrepresentation and Dispossession

Iraq's Christians face a difficult Christmas. With sectarian violence rising again, many are afraid to go to church services. A Christian is killed in Mosul and 27 Shiite Muslims are slain as they prepare for Ashura.

We're in the Afghanistan War 3,000+ days and more than half our federal budget is for war every year!

This is interesting:

Ratzinger gone wild: "I hate that cunt! That's the second time she did that! Who's the IDIOT who let her in again?"

(I hope I don't have to explain to everyone, when it's blatantly obvious I made that up about what Ratzinger said. Maybe I'll put some kind of icon on the side which means I made something up. Like a little smiley or something. The woman really charged Ratzinger...he didn't call her a "cunt", OK???)

Pope Benedict XVI: "I thought even giving up the 7 points on the spread, it was a safe bet."

Rules of arguing, fallacious arguments, arguing techniques - there are many, here's ONE:

Description of Ad Hominem

Translated from Latin to English, "Ad Hominem" means "against the man" or "against the person."

An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps.

- First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim).

- Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:

1. Person A makes claim X.
2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
3. Therefore A's claim is false.

The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).
Example of Ad Hominem

1. Bill: "I believe that abortion is morally wrong."
Dave: "Of course you would say that, you're a priest."
Bill: "What about the arguments I gave to support my position?"
Dave: "Those don't count. Like I said, you're a priest, so you have to say that abortion is wrong. Further, you are just a lackey to the Pope, so I can't believe what you say."
