How are we treating our soldiers?
● PBS: Of the thousands of U.S. troops getting discharged from the Army each year, many who are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and brain injuries aren't getting the vital care they need. The Army claims these soldiers have pre-existing mental illnesses or are guilty of misconduct. But advocates say this is a way for the Army to get rid of "problem" soldiers quickly, without giving them the treatment and benefits to which they're entitled.
● Of the 580,400 soldiers who served in Gulf War I, 11,000 are now dead, he said. By the year 2000, there were 325,000 on permanent medical disability. More than a decade later, more than half (56 percent) who served in Gulf War I have permanent medical problems. The disability rate for veterans of the world wars of the last century was 5 percent, rising to 10 percent in Vietnam.

So you don't lose your house, your car and all your possessions! Of the 4 weekly unemployment checks you get, 2 go to COBRA to extend your health benefits because the cost skyrocketted for your benefits because your employer is no longer covering you, and 1 of your unemployment checks goes towards the "Reagan Unemployment Tax". In case you forgot, Ronald Reagan started taxing unemployment checks. So, 3 of your 4 unemployment checks go towards COBRA and the Reagan Unemployment Tax. We need to repeal the Reagan unemployment tax, too, so you get to keep all 4 of your weekly unemployment checks to pay for your mortgage, your car payments, your car insurance, electricity, heating oil or gas, water, all your other bills, and FOOD! Right now, if you're living paycheck to paycheck, losing your job is a sentence to also lose your home! Unless you've got a ton of money saved up. And then, your retirement savings will be depeleted just keeping you afloat until you find a job!"
