Special commentary by Big Dan: "Message to reporters: STOP INTERVIEWING FRIENDS OF CRIMINALS AND QUOTING THEM SAYING, 'HE WAS SUCH A NICE GUY'!!!!!!'. I'm getting sick of reading the article about the peanut factory owner's friends saying, 'He was such a nice guy.' I'm sick of reading the friends of the local judges' who sentenced kids to their juvie center for profit saying , 'HE WAS SUCH A NICE GUY'!!! I'm sick of reading that former commissioner Todd Vonderheid said that the guy who built the juvie center and funnelled money to the judges, Mericle, was 'Such a nice guy'!!!!!! Message to reporters: THEIR FRIENDS ARE GOING TO SAY THEY WERE NICE GUYS!!! Why don't you interview the 8 families of the people who died from salmonella laced peanuts and ask if the peanut factory owner was a 'SUCH A NICE GUY'??? Why don't you interview the members of kids' families who were sent to prison for profit in this local scandal and ask if these creeps were "SUCH NICE GUYS"??? I'm sick of reporters interviewing FRIENDS of CRIMINALS and quoting them saying, 'HE WAS A NICE GUY'!!! Of course FRIENDS OF CRIMINALS are going to say: 'HE WAS A NICE GUY'!!! OR THEY WOULDN'T BE THEIR FRIENDS!!! DUH!!! Jeffery Dahmer's neighbors thought he was 'SUCH A NICE GUY' because he didn't eat them! DUH!!! THEY AREN'T 'NICE GUYS' - STOP IT!!!"

Another Bush legacy: gutting the FDA, underfunding it, and filling it with inept cronies. Remember, during the Bush years: tainted tomatoes, spinach, mercury in corn syrup, and now the Hurricane Katrina of recalls - things with peanuts or peanut butter in them!
Heckuva job, Bushie! Mr. Bush did not care about the American people. His "war on terror" is a huge money-making scheme for his friends and family. Too bad the fallout from Bush's FDA doesn't only affect Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Republican voters. It affects all Americans! The peanut recall affects children in particular, according to these reports. But then again, the GOP and rightwing pundits were against SCHIP, too! Just do as the Republicans want you to do, and worry about "the terrorists"...instead of the food you're eating! We're as bad as China, and we used to make fun of them!
Officials want criminal probe of Peanut Corp. for shipping salmonella-tainted peanut butter
Note: this next article is dated JUNE 12TH!!!!!!!!!!
WASHINGTON, June 12 (UPI) -- A congressional report, coming amid a new contaminated food scare, faults the Bush administration for an alleged lack of food safeguards. The Government Accountability Office, Congress's investigative arm, accused the administration of failing to identify the procedure needed to protect the U.S. food supply. The report comes as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is taking heat for the latest outbreak, involving a rare, virulent strain of salmonella linked to fresh tomatoes.
Note: they knew about this peanut problem MONTHS AGO and did NOTHING!!!

The mainstream media has virtually ignored this story? You might think that a revolt of FDA scientists against their criminal bosses would be a huge story worthy of front-page treatment at USA Today or the Washington Post, right? Only the NY Times bothered to report this story.

FDA agency managers coerced those in the medical device division into approving products despite serious safety and effectiveness concerns
Committee On Energy & Commerce news release: Dingell, Stupak to Investigate FDA’s Medical Device Approval Process
Dear Mr. Dingell:
This letter seeks your urgent intervention because serious misconduct by managers of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) is interfering with our responsibility to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medical devices for the American public and with FDA's mission to protect and promote the health of all Americans. Managers at CDRH have failed to follow the laws, rules, regulations and Agency Guidance to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medical devices and consequently, they have corrupted the
scientific review of medical devices. This misconduct reaches the highest levels of CDRH management including the Center Director and Director of the Office of DevIce Evaluation (ODE). (read actual letter - click here)
