Big Dan's Big News Nov 4, 2008

Update! Video the Vote is a national network of citizen journalists monitoring the polling stations in their communities. The group has a toll-free number—1-8-6-6-OUR-VOTE—that voters can call to report problems at the polls. A command center in Washington, D.C. can then choose from a database of some three thousand people to dispatch camera-wielding volunteers to the voting sites. Throughout the day the volunteers will be filing reports and posting them on their website, VideoTheVote.org.

As the U.S. presidential candidates sprint toward the finish line, the Bush administration is also sprinting to enact environmental policy changes before leaving power. Whether it's getting wolves off the Endangered Species List, allowing power plants to operate near national parks, loosening regulations for factory farm waste or making it easier for mountaintop coal-mining operations, these proposed changes have found little favor with environmental groups.

Limbaugh mocked Obama's final visit with grandmother

Summary: Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, and Jerome Corsi suggested or asserted that the true purpose of Sen. Barack Obama's current trip to Hawaii is not to visit his ailing grandmother, as Obama claims, but rather to address rumors -- widely debunked -- that Obama has failed to produce a valid U.S. birth certificate. However, in addition to FactCheck.org and a Hawaiian Health Department official, even Corsi's employer, the right-wing website WorldNetDaily, has reportedly determined that the birth certificate provided by the Obama campaign is authentic.

Conservative media figures allege Obama's Hawaii trip is about discredited birth-certificate rumors, not his ailing grandmother.

We have our own Rush Limbaugh, Jr. here on our local 12 straight hours of AM hate radio on WILK (besides the Nancy & Kevin Show): Steve Corbett. He fit's in well with Clear Channel's Hate Radio lineup. Yesterday, he picked former Scranton mayor McNulty to incite his lynch mob callers against. He now attracts mostly "dittoheads", you know, just like the Rush Limbaugh show. "Let's get 'em, everyone!!!" He keeps saying on the air that he's not a racist. Why? Thou dost protest too loudly! Corbett constantly reminds listeners that he wrote a lot about racism a long time ago. Where? I want to see the articles! I challenge Corbett to post them on his website (if they exist)! Put up or shut up! He's "insulted" because he thinks Obama backers think McCain backers are "dumb", he says. He calls himself a liberal, but is voting for McCain and has on all Republican guests. So he must think his LISTENERS are DUMB! Something we don't need in this area: more local attack-style Hate Radio!!! The man should never have had a microphone thrust in front of him. Steve Corbett the "pretend" liberal and "real" opportunist: NOT a nice guy.
