I'm 49 years old and I can't believe I never thought of this before: instead of scraping ice of the windows on the car, I just fill a pot with hot water, and dip a cup into it, throw the cup of hot water on the window, and INSTANTLY the window is TOTALLY FROST FREE!

I went out to her car before she went to work the last couple of times, and simply walked around the car throwing cups of hot water on it. INSTANTLY: NO ICE ON THE WINDOWS! Seriously, my wife went out to the car the other day, the first frost, and went, "Oh, my god! We had a frost, it's going to take me half an hour to get all this ice off the windows! And I have to warm the car up" etc...

ReplyDeleteI parked in Wilkes-Barre across the street from my daughter's today. I came out and and had a ticket which said I was parked further than 12 inches from the curb. I had my daughter's boyfriend get a tape measure, I was NOT parked further than 12 inches from the curb, and I took pictures of it.
I went to the police station, showed a cop the pictures, and he said, "Wait: here's the cop who wrote the ticket."
He said, "Are you the guy with the white car? Well you were parked against the car in front of you, your bumpers were touching and he called the police. I could've actually filed an ACCIDENT report, but I just wrote you out a ticket for $10 for parking further than 12 inches from the curb. I could've filled out an accident report, called insurance companies, etc...and you could've gotten points on your license. $10 is a better deal."
The FIRST smart thing I did today: I said, "OK". IE: instead of showing him the pictures that I was NOT further than 12 inches from the curb, etc...
Then I thought back: after I parked, I was on my daughter's porch looking across the street at my car, and on the cell phone with my friend. I remember, as I was talking to him, thinking: "Jesus Christ! I really parked CLOSE to that guy. I wonder if I'm touching him? It looks like I am! I should go over there and move my car."

Despite Ponzi Business Connection, Romney Promises To Repeal New Investor Protection Laws
Mitt Romney, his son Tagg, and Romney’s chief fundraiser, Spencer Zwick,
have extensive financial and political ties to three men who allegedly
participated in an $8.5 billion Ponzi scheme. A few months after the
Ponzi scheme collapsed, a firm financed by Mitt Romney and run by his
son and chief fundraiser partnered with the three men and created a new
“wealth management business” as a subsidiary.
In an exclusive interview with ThinkProgress, Tagg Romney confirmed
their business relationship, but falsely claimed that the men were
cleared of any wrongdoing associated with the Ponzi scheme. Tagg Romney
told ThinkProgress that his three partners collected about $15,000 from
their involvement in the Ponzi scheme. Court documents obtained by
ThinkProgress show that the legal proceedings are ongoing and the men
made over $1.6 million selling fraudulent CDs to investors.
The Ponzi Scheme
In 2009, prosecutors announced charges against the Stanford Financial Group, which managed a portfolio of $8.5 billion,
for running a “massive, ongoing fraud” against its investors. The Ponzi
scheme bust was one of the largest in recent history, second only to
Bernie Madoff, who perpetrated a fraud estimated to be around $17 billion. The Stanford Ponzi scheme wiped out the savings of thousands, including many American retirees across the country. In Texas, 1290 people lost their retirement savings because of the Stanford Ponzi scheme; in Louisiana, several hundred reportedly suffered the same fate.
Launched in 2008 by Romney’s son Tagg and a few others, including Mitt
Romney’s chief fundraiser Spencer Zwick, Solamere Capital is a “fund of funds,” meaning that it primarily invests in other investment companies, like private equity groups.
Mitt Romney himself made a $10 million initial seed investment in Solamere Capital and his personal financial disclosure forms reveal that he has received between $100,000 and $1 million in returns from his stake in Solamere. Romney has come under fire for refusing
to release his tax returns, which would likely reveal additional
details about his financial relationship with Solamere Capital.
The revelation about Romney’s ties to the Stanford ponzi scheme
unmask the risks associated with removing new investor protections. The
Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform law, a reform Romney says he will repeal
if he wins the presidency, attempts to address future Ponzi schemes by
enacting new protections for whistleblowers to alert authorities when
they find evidence of fraud. The law also creates
a new Investor Advocate and Investor Advisory Committee within the
Securities and Exchange Commission to detect and investigate future
Ponzi schemes.
Mike Hudson, a reporter with iWatch News and author of a new book
about how predatory Wall Street practices created the financial crisis,
told ThinkProgress that Dodd-Frank “could be a game changer that helps
the SEC identify and shut down Ponzis and Ponzi-like schemes.” But on
the campaign trail, Romney, a fierce critic of efforts to reign in Wall
Street practices, has called new investor protections like Dodd-Frank “extraordinarily burdensome.”

I had this car once, piece of crap car that barely ran. It was winter back in Wisconsin and the radiator, hoses and etc. had froze solid. It was about ten dgrees out. I went and got one of those radiator hose type engine block heaters and hooked it up. After about four hours I went out to check on it. The hose next to the heater was extremely hot, but further down the hose it was still ice. So I figured I could flex the hose and break up some of the ice. Instead the hose exploded and sprayed boiling water in my face and all over my hands. I decided in that instant I was done with that car. It had a 12 hour move ticket on it so they could plow the street and I couldn't afford a ticket so I called up a friend with a truck and tow chain. We hooked up the car and headed out to the nearest wrecking yard which was 15 miles south of town. My friend was driving the truck and I was steering the car. We hadn't gone but a mile or so when the windshield started fogging up from my breath. Soon I was going along with my head out the window to see where we were going. When we got to the wrecking yard it was closed - not open on Saturdays. So we had to turn around and go to the only other wrecking yard which was 25 miles north of town. My face was already frozen and the sun was going down. Upon reaching the other wrecking yard they too were closed - it was after 5:00 pm. I wanted nothing more of my face in the 10 dgree wind with a chill factor of about 0 so I signed the title over to the wrecking yard, set it on the seat and left the car in their driveway.
Those types are all about blasphemy against God to the Nth degree. Posing as Holy men, yet are evil to the core. Satanism at the pinnacle.

cleared of that before we made our investment," replied Tagg, who spoke
to ThinkProgress for a few minutes while walking around the Venetian
hotel after the debate. ...Tagg's
assertions, that his Solamere Advisors partners who were employed in
the Stanford Ponzi scheme didn't make "any money," and that they their
involvement in the Ponzi scheme has been "cleared," contrasts with court
documents obtained by ThinkProgress.

Solamere Advisors won’t be a portfolio investment of Solamere Capital LLC, the Lexington, Mass., firm founded last year by Tagg Romney and partners Eric Scheuermann and Spencer Zwick. The founders are putting money into the business along with employees and some local investors in Charlotte, Evans said.

close friend of former First Lady Laura Bush, became U.S. ambassador to
Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean States in 2006. In her job, Ourisman
ensured that Stanford's financial operations in Antigua and Barbuda, as
well as in two other Caribbean nations where she was credentialed as
ambassador, St. Kitts-Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, were
protected from federal regulators.

provide even more protection for Stanford's money laundering and other
covert operations, Stanford showered GOP and Democratic senators with
large campaign contributions, including $83,000 for John Cornyn
of Texas and $950,000 for the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, and
particularly, Bob Menendez of New Jersey. Menendez, who maintains close
connections to the Cuban exile community in Florida and new Jersey and
its CIA/MOSSAD veteran operatives, has refused to investigate the
Stanford fraud on behalf of its victims and has tried to block any
Senate investigation of Stanford's links to the CIA/MOSSAD and top
government officials, Democratic and Republican.
It is
also noteworthy that Texas was the only U.S. state to have entered into a
financial regulatory agreement with Antigua. The Texas Department
Banking and the Antigua and Barbuda International Financial Sector
Regulatory authority signed the agreement on July 26, 2001. More
amazingly, the agreement was signed while Antigua was subject to a U.S.
Treasury advisory warning of potential fraud.
Ourisman
sat idly in Bridgetown, Barbados as Antigua's Attorney General, Errol
Cort, who had also been Stanford's personal attorney on the island,
changed the island nation's money laundering laws to the benefit of
Stanford and his CIA/MOSSAD overseers, without a peep from any of the
regulatory agencies in Washington. Cort, who is now the National
Security Minister of Antigua and has used his position to make things
uncomfortable for Stanford fraud investigators traveling to the island,
also served on the board of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, which
took over Stanford's Bank of Antigua after Stanford empire collapsed in
2009. Stanford had become a political kingpin in Antigua, exercising
influence over the previous Lester Bird government and its successor,
the present Baldwin Spencer government -- without any interference from
Ourisman in Barbados or the State Department of stooges of CIA....
Stogniew, who headed a one-man company in Florida, Stogniew and
Associates, provided risk analysis services for Stanford. Stogniew
produced a flimsy three-page risk analysis report for Stanford in 2003.
It mostly consisted of disclaimers. Gerry Stogniew, who founded his
company in 1980 and resided in Seminole, Florida, died in July 2008....
The firm was taken over by Stogniew's daughter and CIA.... Oddly, the
professional staff for Stogniew and Associates are only listed by their
initials. Federal Election Commission records indicate Stogniew donated
to the campaigns of George H. W. Bush in 1987 and Florida Republicans
Bill McCollum in 1999 and Katherine Harris in 2005.
Allen
Stanford and Mary Ourisman shared more than an interest in protecting
Stanford International Bank from nosy regulators: they were both born in
the small Texas town of Mexia, Ourisman in 1946 and Stanford in 1950.

The Boston Globe released the story about Romney's son's involvement with questionable characters from Stanford Financial a few days ago. Rove would have known in advance that the Romney story was coming out, and would have made the decision to throw Cain under the bus in order to flood the airwaves with sexual harassment allegations 24/7 - always subject to more coverage than any financial scandal.
Next comes the woman speaking out directly to create a full blown Anita Hill vs. Long Dong Silver donnybrook. If this isn't enough to bury the Romney story, expect Rove to launch a terror scare.

millions of dollars in political spending in 2010, but that alliance,
which has flown largely under the radar, is showing signs of fraying.

with each network planning to dwarf its 2010 effort, Republicans worry
that the emerging rivalry between the two deepest-pocketed camps in the
conservative movement could undercut their party’s chances of taking the
Senate and White House in 2012.
The billionaire industrialist
brothers David and Charles Koch plan to steer more than $200 million —
potentially much more — to conservative groups ahead of Election Day,
POLITICO has learned. That puts their libertarian-leaning network in the
same league as the most active of the groups in the more
establishment-oriented network conceived last year by veteran GOP operatives Rove and Ed Gillespie, which plans to raise $240 million.
The
fault lines revealed themselves this summer, when the camps split on
the highest-profile conservative movement issue of the day: The biggest groups in the Rove-Gillespie network supported House Speaker John Boehner’s bill to increase the debt ceiling and the Koch brothers’ primary political group, Americans for Prosperity, pressured conservatives to oppose it.They
also have spent big on seemingly competing infrastructure. The networks

ReplyDeleteThe reason I say, "LOOK AT THE BAG!!!!!!!!!!!" all the time: it's sort of an inside joke I should explain.
I was working at ALLTEL years ago, a computer programmer, and we were outside on the square in Wilkes-Barre, I was having a cigarette, just a short break. And this manager came up to me, and he was telling me this technical work-related problem. Now I was actually thinking, "come on! i'm on a smoke break! I hate this shit!". So, I'm pretending to listen to him, nodding my head. And then a plastic bag started floating in mid-air behind him, like one of those shitty K-Mart bags that are always floating around in the wind. And on the square, you get swirling winds, because it's a square with all buildings, and always windy, like a funnel swirling wind. So behind this manager, whom I was only PRETENDING to pay attention to in the first place, directly behind him a BAG was floating in midair, almost like magic, right behind him. All I could do was look at the bag. Now there were others around me on break, too, my friends. And I'm sure they were thinking the same thing I was: they wish this manager would get the fuck out of here. So right in the middle of this technical problem he was telling me, and I was PRETENDING to care about, I screamed: "LOOK AT THE BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and pointed behind him. He turned around, looked at the levitating bag, looked back at me, frowned, and walked into the building without finishing what he was saying. And everyone was HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!! (after he left, of course).
Then people were yelling: "LOOK AT THE BAG!!!!!!!!" and pointing behind me for WEEKS after that, busting me!

When I wasn't on a smoke break telling my manager, "LOOK AT THE BAG!", I was busy receiving an award for getting a program that was running over 24 hours at a shot company wide, to run in under 5 minutes with the same results, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. ;)

Before my work moved we had an office next to a feed store. Behind the receptionists desk was a narrow window about 5 feet off the floor. Every couple of weeks a semi-truck loaded with hay would back in just outside the window. Being on the side of a hill the feed store was lower than us so you had to actually stand up and look out the window to see the truck.
I would walk up behind the receptionist, look out the window and say "Hay!" Without fail she would jump up and look out the window. It got her every time!
