Even though Sarah Palin was up in Alaska during the Exxon-Valdez oil spill, she still said "DRILL, BABY, DRILL" during the presidential campaign with McCain. Now she's saying she'll "pray" for the people on the Gulf of Mexico!!! Sarah: take your Oil God and shove it!!!

30 years ago, the exact same thing happened THEN...that's happening NOW....we haven't done ONE THING in 30 YEARS!!!!!!!

Do ya miss him yet??? It was 8 years of the Bush administrations' policies of neutering federal agencies like the EPA, FDA, MMS, and dept of interior and installing industry cronies to head them that directly led to the BP oil spill. When the Bush administration wasn't busy scaring the SHIT out of you with TERROR TERROR TERROR, he was sabotaging federal oversight agencies.

Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Thad Allen is to retire at the end of this month. He was named as national incident commander for the oil spill and President Obama has stated that Allen will continue in his position after he retires. However, WMR's sources in FEMA report that Allen has been in post-retirement employment discussions with BP. Under his watch, the Coast Guard has been accused of shilling for BP's public relations efforts, including having armed Coast Guard personnel chase away a CBS camera crew from filming the oil spill's effects in Louisiana and claiming that tests of oil tar balls in Florida have not come from the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

In light of this report, any comments by Admiral Thad Allen must be considered biased.

APNewsBreak: New, giant sea oil plume seen in Gulf

NEW ORLEANS — Marine scientists have discovered a massive new plume of what they believe to be oil deep beneath the Gulf of Mexico, stretching 22 miles from the leaking wellhead northeast toward Mobile Bay, Alabama.

The discovery by researchers on the University of South Florida College of Marine Science's Weatherbird II vessel is the second significant undersea plume recorded since the Deepwater Horizon exploded on April 20.

David Hollander, associate professor of chemical oceanography at the school, says the thick plume was detected just beneath the surface down to about 3,300 feet. He says it's more than 6 miles wide.

NOAA vessel prepares for trip to take samples of oil

    By Jessica Bowman – email

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - A request from the Unified Command has the NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter, a fisheries research vessel, leaving Thursday morning to conduct research on the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill underwater plume. Jessica Bowman spoke with one NOAA Research Fishery Biologist who said sound waves will help determine if oil is deep within the ocean floor.

Crews aboard the 224 foot fisheries research vessel said there is a tremendous amount of information about the oil distribution on the surface of the water from the oil spill, but the unknown is what's happening beneath the surface.

  8. Bp Admits "Mud Shot" Total Fail - Next Up "Junk Shot"
    Quote

BP PLC's latest hope for stopping oil from spurting into the Gulf of Mexico ground to temporary halt on Thursday, as the company said it was monitoring the results of its so-called "top kill" operation to plug the Deepwater Horizon well.

The move came as a federal panel of scientists declared the spill the worst in U.S. history, surpassing the Exxon Valdez disaster of 1989.

BP said Thursday afternoon that it had stopped pumping drilling mud into the well around 11 p.m. Wednesday in order to assess the results of the first phase of the top kill, monitor the pressure in the well and restock the vessels bringing in mud for the operation. Doug Suttles, BP's chief operating officer, said BP pumping would start again later Thursday evening, adding the top kill would continue for at least another 24 hours.

"The operation has not yet achieved its objective,"he said, in that oil was continuing to flow to the surface. "We have successfully pumped some of the drilling mud into the well bore. Clearly we need to pump more of that in.

US coast guards harass journalists covering BP's oil spill disaster

News photographers and TV camera crews are claiming that they are being prevented from reporting on the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

They complain that US federal and local officials, including coast guards, are blocking access to beaches where the effects of the spill are most visible.

A CBS TV crew was threatened with arrest when attempting to film an oil-covered beach last week. On Saturday, reporter Mac McClelland was blocked by police from visiting an island in Louisiana.

On Tuesday, a photographer with the New Orleans Times-Picayune was prevented from flying over the ocean after the plane company was issued with a temporary flight restriction after BP officials learned that a member of the press would be on board.

  11. Only 33 people show up to see Karl Rove at book signing in Grand Rapids

My son called me today and told me he was at Meijers grocery store in Grand Rapids, and there were lots of police cars there. He asked one of the cops why, and they told him Karl Rove was coming to the store to sign his books.

I screamed, UGH. My son laughed and said, dont worry, mom, your grandson didnt get anywhere near him.

anyway, only 33 people showed up. 3 protesters.

    ---------------------------------------------------

The signing, tucked in the furniture section of the store, started around 4 p.m. but by 4:20 p.m. the short line was gone. Rove stepped away until more people showed up and signed six more books before ending the event at 4:45 p.m. He was scheduled to be there until 6 p.m.

During Rove's break, a trio came in with "War Criminal" signs but were escorted out.
