President Obama can't win with the Republicans on health care, so the Democrats should push through whatever reform they want...but they won't. Jon Stewart attacks both the Democrats and Republicans on health care.

We need jobs, not deficit cuts. Listen to Keynes and ignore those behind all the noise about deficits, who are simply looking to profit from private debt
Virginia Republican (of course) says disabled children are a form of punishment for women who had abortions.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL: "Children, the law is nothing but a rag smeared with blood and shit. "It is only for suckers, rubes and losers. "Claw your way to the top -- by any means necessary -- and the law can never touch you. "This is the American way."
Washington Times: A lingering technical question about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks still haunts some, and it has political implications: How did 200,000 tons of steel disintegrate and drop in 11 seconds? A thousand architects and engineers want to know, and are calling on Congress to order a new investigation into the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 at the World Trade Center.
BD: here's what gets me about 9/11 - there are THOUSANDS more experts who don't buy the "official fairy tale" pushed by the government, politicians and the corporate owned media. The architects and engineers, the REAL EXPERTS, don't believe the government's official story. There ARE NO EXPERTS who believe the government's 9/11 story. WHERE ARE THEY? THERE ARE NONE! The very simple reason I don't believe the government's 9/11 story, is because all the scientific experts don't, either! NONE! ZERO! ZILCH! Think about who told you the official 9/11 story: the media and the government. Are they architects and engineers? FIND ME AN ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER WHO BELIEVES THE GOVERNMENT'S 9/11 STORY!!! Sorry, but this isn't going to go away, in fact, it's growing because it's the truth. There's nobody who didn't believe the government's story and now they do, but everyday there are more and more people who believed the government's story who now do NOT believe it! Do you understand: 1,062 architects and engineers (and growing) say it is IMPOSSIBLE according to science and physics that the airplanes hitting the Twin Towers brought them down at free fall speed in seconds into POWDER & DUST! And 47 story WTC-7 went down the SAME WAY BUT WASN'T HIT BY A F*CKING AIRPLANE!!! Here's why this movement keeps growing: because when architects and engineers look at what happened, they arrive at the scientific conclusion that it's IMPOSSIBLE! They cannot come to any other conclusion. There is only ONE conclusion for them to come to. But let's backtrack a little bit and try and find the "experts" who can prove the government's story. Good luck! There are none! Because at the time, the "experts" were the media and the government...and they aren't experts. I DARE you to watch the video below, if you still believe the "official" government 9/11 story. I DARE YOU! I DARE YOU! I DARE YOU! I DARE YOU! I DARE YOU!
Architects and Engineers for 9/11 TRUTH - http://www.ae911truth.org/ - 1,062 architectural and engineering professionals and 6,986 other supporters including A&E students have signed the petition demanding of Congress a truly independent investigation.

Today's Republican Party acts as if IKE didn't exist! What does that tell you about the GOP?
Cross of Iron Speech. Address by President Dwight D. Eisenhower "The Chance for Peace" delivered before the American Society of Newspaper Editors, April 16,1953.
IKE: The Last Honest Republican?
Eisenower's Military Industrial Complex speech
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
"We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."
Eisenhower's farewell address where he warns of a "hostile idealogy", "the military industrial complex" and "the consequences of too much government funded research".

We're in the midst of a HUGE snowstorm here. Everything is closed/cancelled. The shoveling is about to begin!
ReplyDeleteGODDAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter's laptop crashed last night. She has VISTA. She can't get on the internet, can't get into the area to restore from a previous date, and random videos are playing audio and no video, and many of her drivers are totally screwed up. Anyone ever have this happen to them?
ReplyDeleteDoes VISTA suck? That's what I've always heard from experts I know.
She thinks she's going to lose a lot of things on her laptop. She can copy things to a flash drive and put them on another computer before going back to ground zero.
ReplyDeleteAny ideas anyone? BB2: you're somewhat of a computer expert, any ideas? 99?
ReplyDeleteOH! Important: She just downloaded service pack 2 for VISTA right before this happened. And she and her boyfriend read online that this has happened to people who updated to service pack 2 for VISTA.
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing makes me think of how we ALL don't back up anything and we're idiots for not doing it! If my computer(s) crashed, I'm screwed, too!
ReplyDeleteMy son has a good idea. For years, he's always had a several hundred gig hard drive (external) and he's always copied all documents, videos, and music to it.
ReplyDeleteOK, some interesting comments yesterday from Theodore Keeling and Bobby Jickerson (?). I have to find out if someone's pulling my leg or not.
ReplyDeleteAs you can see, I'm just going through yesterday's comments. Personally, I do know a staunch Republican who worked for the government, has great health care coverage BECAUSE of the government, has a great pension BECAUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT, and is STILL you're typical staunch Rush Limbaugh-quoting Republican. This totally boggles my mind. THAT is why, because of FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE, I think some people (and some of the Tea Party) are absolutely a total waste of time to try and reason with them.
ReplyDeleteAnd btw...one of those commenters, like I do, uses CAPS instead of italics. But it's not me, in case anyone thinks I mess around like that, I don't and never will. But I did notice that. Let me say this to everyone here: I would never NEVER do that, pretend I'm someone other than who I am. First of all, I'm sure everyone who comes here is too smart and would pick up on it.
Here's why I use CAPS for certain words, and I never really thought about why I do that: it's easier than typing in the greater than/less than signs and all that crap.
I was thinking about this: 99 always says she knows Tea Partiers who want single payer. Did you know Ron Paul is against single payer OR any government intervention into health care? I agree that the Tea Party EXPRESS was formed to co-opt the real Tea Party of Ron Paul. And that was on purpose to call themselves that, it was genius, in fact, because just like they wanted they also are being referred to as the Tea Party (without the EXPRESS). They knew that would happen, it happened, they're genius agent provocateurs.
ReplyDeleteBut my question is to 99: how do you resolve that even the ORIGINAL Tea Party of Ron Paul, the members are for single payer and Ron Paul himself isn't? I think maybe they shouldn't call themselves Tea Partiers anymore if this is the case?
I just measured the snow, 5 inches and still snowing!

Declining Conservatism Among Millennials Signals Bad News for Fox News, Limbaugh
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pensitoreview.com/2010/02/25/declining-conservativism-among-millenials-signals-bad-news-for-fox-news-limbaugh/
Yup, thats what we do at work also, now that we draw the jobs (construction) up in 3D. It would be a disaster if the computer died or was stolen so I have my own zip drive and we have a drive like your sons also. Definitely back it up your site is a goldmine. and Vista sucks I have had huge problems with it and always after updates, it usually results in me having to do a system restore which usually works except for the one time it didnt and I spent a day futzing with my computer trying to get it to work again.
ReplyDeleteSee how you are? I give you the link to an exquisitely assembled full speech by Ike - an object of my personal toil - and yet you just post the first half!

My gravitar is back, My gravitar is back!
ReplyDeleteOdd - I posted that right after my previous comment. 17 minutes later I came back and it was still trying to post. I reloaded the page and then it went.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm - chicken on my new grille. I got a steal - $340 grille - 5 burners, side burner, cupboard underneath. I walked into Home Depot Saturday and the clerk was putting a sign on it - Clearance $149. I grabbed it right then and headed for the checkout. There went the last of my Christmas bonus, but after spending the rest of it on my kid's Christmas presents and groceries I figured I owed myself a treat. It was a display model - the only thing wrong with it was that it was covered in a thick layer of dust which wiped right off.
I already splurged on made some steaks on it last weekend - came out great!
We fixed my daughter's computer, almost a solid day with two people working on it and calling others. It looks like when VISTA service pack 2 was updating, the laptop went into sleep mode or had a hard shut off, corrupting the system. That is a big, long update, VISTA service pack 2. For some unknown reason, this disabled all of the drivers on the entire laptop, nothing was working. For example, it didn't recognize the audio, there was a red X on the little audio speaker icon in the lower right hand corner on every computer. The DVD drive, too, etc...
ReplyDeleteThe catch 22 is that this problem also would not let us manually enable the drivers on everything.
With the service pack 2 update, there was also an update to the security feature that allows you to enable drivers. That particular update has a known bug in it that would cause you not to be able to enable your drivers. We got rid of that update, which then allowed us to enable the drivers on everything.
And btw, we have 8.5 inches of snow and it's still snowing, I just measured it.

Thanks BD,
ReplyDeleteI was coming to tell you that I am going to be looking at a friend's son's computer which is displaying the same symptoms. His won't even boot except in safe mode. I shall have to ask if he too downloaded that service pack. If he did I may be calling upon you and your friends for help!

I just took the official backyard measurement: 10 inches and still snowing.
ReplyDeleteYou bastard! I love grilling! That sounds like a man's man's grill, baby!
ReplyDeleteWhoops! That's what I get for trusting you! winky winky
ReplyDeleteTell him NOT to go to ground zero and lose everything! The first thing my daughter said is: "Well, I'm going to lose everything, I'm going to ground zero."
ReplyDeleteI said: "WAIT!!!!! GIVE US A CHANCE TO FIGURE IT OUT FIRST!!!!!!!!!"
AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Measurement in the backyard: 12 inches and still snowing heavy. But it's a weird snow: they're tiny flakes but lots of them, very dense. I don't recall seeing snow like this before.

2 hours ago, check my comment, it was 8.5 inches. Now it's 12 inches. So it accumulated 3.5 inches in 2 hours!
