Big Dan's Big News Feb 12, 2010

Republicans are holding their convention in Hawaii, and don't realize Hawaiians are all covered by mandatory government health care and are very happy about it. IE: Hawaiians have UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE and love it and it works! Republicans, though, say Hawaiians don't know any better and aren't happy. Also, Republicans don't want to meet Obama about health care with the cameras rolling, calling it a "trap".

"Bi-partisan grassroots" (wink wink) Tea Party just happens to have the Republican VP nominee speaking at their convention and the same platform as the Republican Party and FOX "news", Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck promoting them. They're against "big government"...you can tell by some of their racist protest signs they carry, how upset they are that we're spending 2.5 BILLION a week on endless wars with no point, how they're against big government domestic spying, and how they side with the health care corporations and big oil. NOT.

Anybody inclined to laugh off the current Tea Bag Movement as just a passing fancy involving a few isolated kooks had better guess again.

Analyze what was said at the group’s recent convention where Sarah Palin regaled her audience along with the series of preceding rallies cheer led by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others and a disturbing trend surfaces.

These Teabaggers hold some discomforting points in common with the Brownshirts of Germany’s pre-Third Reich period. Many from the progressive movement in Germany during that period laughed off the appearance of “a funny looking little man with a mustache” along with those “kooky guys in the Brownshirts” as one conclusion was clear to them.

Tea Bag Movement: Harbinger of Fascism?

“The GOP is, at its core, a Rich Man's Party that relies for its mass support on people who want to vote for a White Man's Party.”

Corporate media go through all manner of contortions of logic and historical gymnastics to sanitize the Tea Party phenomenon – anything to avoid calling the people grouped under the Tea Party umbrella by their proper name: White nationalists.

Tea Partyers Are White Nationalists, Pure and Simple

Special commentary by Big Dan: "There's just as many black Republican senators and house reps as there are black teabaggers - ZERO!!! The last black Republican in the House or Senate was JC Watts in 2002, and the first black teabagger doesn't exist.".

  2. LOL - My wife came to me last week and asked if I liked Steve Miller. I told her I did indeed like him - a lot. Then she asked if I wanted to go to his concert here in April. I said go for it - get tickets.
So Monday she gets the tickets and gives them to me - tickets for The Eagles - not Steve Miller. She swears she never said Steve Miller... but I swear she said it at least 5 times between when she first mentioned it and the time she got the tickets. I talked to her brother whom we invited and he thought we were going to Steve Miller too! Don't know what she was smoking, but she didn't share!
    But hey... The Eagles? Ya!

  3. And it was cheap by today's standards. $32 for the nose-bleed seats at Arco (Echo) Arena - where the Sacramento Kings play. No additional service charges - electronic tickets through Live Nation. Seats in the lower sections ran $55-89 and on the floor $250 - ridiculous! The last time they came around the cheapest seats were $125.

  17. More hospitals today: you probably know, my wife Karin had breast cancer about 6 years ago. She recently got a blister the size of a quarter on her breast, and it burst but didn't heal for 2 months, so today: surgery, she had it removed.

And of course, the ongoing saga with my father. He has been released from the hospital a second time and is in rehab in a nursing home. As I said before, he's a bad, mean, non-compliant patient, too. So, it's not fun.

  20. So you think you know everything about the Romans? They gave us sophisticated road systems, chariots and the modern-day calendar. And of course they had to contend with barbarian hordes who continually threatened the peace, safety and prosperity of their Empire. Didn't they? Terry Jones' Barbarians takes a completely fresh approach to Roman history. Not only does it offer us the chance to see the Romans from a non-Roman perspective, it also reveals that most of the people written off by the Romans as uncivilized, savage and barbaric were in fact organized, motivated and intelligent groups of people, with no intentions of overthrowing Rome and plundering its Empire. This is the story of Roman history as seen by the Britons, Gauls, Germans, Greeks, Persians and Africans. The Vandals didn't vandalize - the Romans did.
