"This was outrageous," Lenore
Zimmerman, 84, who winters in the Wynmoor Village condominium complex in
Coconut Creek, said on Monday. "For some reason, they decided I look like a terrorist."
All three incidents took place during Thanksgiving week, the
busiest travel period during the year, although the TSA said it conducts
secondary screenings the same way no matter the volume.
"Terrorists remain focused on attacking transportation through tactics
such as concealing explosives under clothing," the agency said in a
statement.
None of the woman said they were asked to take off
clothing on their way to New York, only on the way back, the result of
the TSA's random selection of who receives secondary screenings combined
with the officers' judgment of how in-depth those screenings need to
be.
"They didn't touch me, but they told me to pull my pants down," said Zimmerman, a widow, adding she felt humiliated. "My blood pressure after the incident was 189 over 90, and it shouldn't be that high."
She said she missed her 1 p.m. flight but caught one two and half hours later.
To make matters worse, Zimmerman said, while in her wheelchair, she had
a metal walker and a suitcase in her lap as she was being taken to the
private room. She said the walker slipped and cut her shin, requiring an
emergency medical technician bandage her leg.

In addition to how generally inappropriate it is for two minority
party Senators to be issuing their own set of demands to a country with
whom relations are endangered and fluid, several other parts of the
statement stand out.
First, it is almost humorous how McCain and Graham have to refer to
being kicked out of the Shamsi air base in Pakistan, as they can’t
officially acknowledge that this is a site where the CIA has been
operating drones.
Instead, they have to say that Pakistan “ has ordered
U.S. intelligence officers to leave the country and disrupted their
work on important national security matters”. I guess that last part
should be said with an “If you know what I mean” like they used to say on Whose Line Is It Anyway so that we can look for the hidden reference to CIA drones. And just whose national security are these drones protecting?
Finally, this was the first time I had seen reference to the story apparently “broken” in October when we learned that 80% of the IED’s in Afghanistan are produced using fertilizer manufactured in Pakistan.
It’s very difficult to see how Afghan farmers will be expected to get
by if the US decides that they can’t have access to a basic fertilizer
like calcium ammonium nitrate from the closest sources because some of
it is diverted to bombs.
Perhaps folks like McCain and Graham would be more helpful if they
spent some time trying to come up with policies that would encourage
conventional uses of fertilizer instead of improvised ones.
Did you notice in all these votes (I'll post all the vote links), you get about 99% of the Republican senators voting lockstep against the Contitution...but there's always an ever-changing "cabal" or "pool" of Democrats that go along with them to get "just enough" votes to screw Americans? And the Dems who do this, they aren't always the same, but the final result is the same?

who is not them is their enemy. Period. And their enemy is less than

And if their enemy is less than human, then they don't
deserve compassion, respect or any of the rights these Christians afford
themselves. Thus, to them, their "enemy" is to be at best forgotten or
"converted". At worst? Eliminated. At all costs.
The biggest
mistake anyone with just modicum of reason and empathy for the human
condition can make is to underestimate the length today's Christians
like Rick will go to have things their way. By any means necessary.
Santorum
is not stupid. He is hateful. He is a hypocrite. He is a
psychopath. He is a true believer in his God given Superiority. And, he
is tremendously - dangerous.
Rest assured, he and his fellow Christians-of-Hate know EXACTLY what they are doing.
To Santorum, there are people like him solely because his God has made him that way. He/they are "blessed".
If
you are not him, and you are poor, a woman, gay, a person of color,
transgendered, disabled, sick, speak a different language or not his
brand of Christian, then you are NOT "blessed" and you are their enemy.
It
should be clear to everyone that Rick is perfectly comfortable with,
and well within his Christian beliefs to treat you "the enemy" with all
the scorn and loathing he can muster.
If he and his kind get their way? Don't look to them for Mercy. That well is empty.

When Yuli Edelstein, Israel's minister for public diplomacy and Diaspora affairs, dropped by the JTA offices the other day, he made clear there is one Diaspora Jewish group about which he has no interest in being diplomatic: J Street.
"They're not pro-Israel, they're not liberally Jewish. They're anti-Israel," the minister, Yuli Edelstein, said.
Edelstein, a Likud member who lives in the West Bank, said that at first he tried to keep an open mind about the group, which describes itself as "pro-Israel, pro-peace."
"I had my doubts with J Street in the beginning," he said, thinking it might be "a very liberal Jewish organization that wanted its voice to be heard."
But its lobbying against Israeli government positions on a range of issues including Iran sanctions convinced him otherwise, he said. (J Street first opposed new sanctions against Iran, then later supported them.)
"Why do you say you're a pro-Israel lobby? On that you should have at least consulted us."

Banks create debt - not money. People sign mortgages to make payments to banks - despite the bank never having actually loaned "money." They issue debt - not Money.
The end game is the devaluation of real property to coincide with its transfer to the banks. as you can also see - the Shadow Government intends to nationalize the banks when this is all said and done - and thereby own most of the real property in the US - which in turn is likely to serve as collateral to China and the Bank Of England for the impending bankruptcy of the United States.
Every national park, highway etc., will be someone else's property.

Mitigating Homeowner Payment Shocks
Rising debt service ratios are a concern if they reflect household
financial stress and presage a drop in consumption or a rise in losses
by lenders. Most homeowners and renters are aware of the possible
difficulties should they lock themselves into a high level of debt
payment obligations. Financial institutions might be able to help some
households in this regard by looking for ways that households--both
renters and homeowners--can shield themselves from unexpected payment
shocks.
One way homeowners attempt to manage their payment risk is to use fixed-rate
mortgages, which typically allow homeowners to prepay their debt when
interest rates fall but do not involve an increase in payments when interest
rates rise. Homeowners pay a lot of money for the right to refinance and
for the insurance against increasing mortgage payments. Calculations by
market analysts of the "option adjusted spread" on mortgages suggest that
the cost of these benefits conferred by fixed-rate mortgages can range
from 0.5 percent to 1.2 percent, raising homeowners' annual after-tax
mortgage payments by several thousand dollars. Indeed, recent research
within the Federal Reserve suggests that many homeowners might have saved
tens of thousands of dollars had they held adjustable-rate mortgages rather
than fixed-rate mortgages during the past decade, though this would not
have been the case, of course, had interest rates trended sharply upward.
American homeowners clearly like the certainty of fixed mortgage payments.
This preference is in striking contrast to the situation in some other
countries, where adjustable-rate mortgages are far more common and where
efforts to introduce American-type fixed-rate mortgages generally have
not been successful. Fixed-rate mortgages seem unduly expensive to households
in other countries. One possible reason is that these mortgages effectively
charge homeowners high fees for protection against rising interest rates
and for the right to refinance.
American consumers might benefit if lenders provided greater mortgage
product alternatives to the traditional fixed-rate mortgage. To the
degree that households are driven by fears of payment shocks but are
willing to manage their own interest rate risks, the traditional
fixed-rate mortgage may be an expensive method of financing a home.
Overall, the household sector seems to be in good shape, and much of
the apparent increase in the household sector's debt ratios over the
past decade reflects factors that do not suggest increasing household
financial stress. And, in fact, during the past two years, debt service
ratios have been stable.
My friend said he saw FEMA exercises in Dickson City here (next to Scranton) about a month ago. They took over a K-Mart parking lot that's on a huge hill overlooking the entire Scranton (a great spot), set up a camp, etc...

You know what I never thought of about the "passerby" who found the passport?

White men have very negative attitude towards Muslims as well, so this doesn't explain the difference. Evangelism does explain it to some extent, and so does the lower level of tolerance to military force. However I don't think even that is an encompassing explanation.Americans see Israelis as pioneers just as once Americans were, they also identify America with Israel because both are immigrant nations.
ReplyDelete- America is a multicultural country, so the Jews in America feel a lot more confident and open about their heritage than the Jews in Europe. Therefore non-Jews in America often hear from American Jews about Israel in a positive light. Another thing- strategic interest. After years Israel and America share common interest and both sides help the other (even if one is the depanded, the benefit is dual). Americans love Israel because Israelis love America. Israelis see America as their older brother and protector. So this is a relationship based on shared history as well.
