Yes - Thompson is pimping an evil ploy to enrich the banks at the expense of the poor/elderly. Reverse Mortgages are a risky proposition - designed to benefit the lender. It's a version of collateralized loan sharking, where the outcome may force end-of-life despair and/or homelessness. I couldn't be more pleased that Thompson's face is all over this form of lending - as most of the victims are likely to be elderly FOX viewers - who would otherwise buy into his politics.

by the Israeli society. Only when the state’s economic policies began to
threaten the narrow interests of the White Ashkenazi society did they
draw attention and media coverage.
It can be argued that bourgeois
Israeli Jews are now paying the prize that Arabs in Israel have been
paying for decades. But we should remember that soaring housing prices
in Tel Aviv are themselves the outcome of the racist policies that were
originally designed to prevent Arabs and other poor Jewish communities
from approaching the city center. We should also remember that those
middle-class Israeli yuppies that came to live in Jaffa for an
“oriental” experience are no less responsible for turning Jaffa into a
fashionable neighborhood and making prices unaffordable for the local
Arab residents.
The dirty secret of the Tel Aviv protests is that
the bulk of those middle-class Ashkenazi protestors are moved by a
racist hysteria. They are simply afraid of being moved to the city
peripheries and the far less fashionable parts of the country. For when
they complain that they only feel at home in Tel Aviv, they explicitly
express a racist desire to stay away from the development towns and
neighborhoods populated by Arabs, poor Mizrahi and Ethiopian Jews.
This
should not be taken as an invitation for a common struggle between
Arabs and poor Mizrahi, Ethiopian and Russian Jews. Nor should it let us
forget that the struggle of Arab Palestinians with the state cannot be
simply reduced from a struggle over land and existence to class and
civil struggles. Indeed, nothing is more ironic than to see Arabs
protesting against high housing prizes in Tel Aviv as if they were
allowed to live in Tel Aviv at all.

Hahn, 35, crashed her car Thursday night while driving drunk. No
other vehicles were involved and fortunately no one was injured. Police
were summoned by the car's On-Star call system.
UPDATE: Ms. Hahn is also the GOP official who appeared on Fox News last February masquerading as an "upset Wisconsin parent"
weighing in on the issue of public school teachers teaching union
history in the classroom. Neither Ms. Hahn nor the hosts and producers
of "Fox and Friends" felt the need to disclose that Hahn was a
Republican activist and local GOP chair.

81 House members touring Israel

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- A total of 81 members of the U.S. House of Representatives will be touring Israel this month.
Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the minority whip, is leading a trip of 26 Democrats that landed Monday in Israel.
"I look forward to returning to Israel to continue learning firsthand
about the evolving security situation in the Middle East, the deep
challenges facing Israel, and the role the United States can play in the
region during this time of uncertainty," said Hoyer, who has led
multiple such trips in the past.
The delegation will meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. The
trip is paid for by the American Israel Education Foundation, the
nonprofit educational affiliate of the American Israel Public Affairs
Committee.
The foundation is similarly funding two separate trips by 55
Republican House members in the subsequent two weeks led by Rep. Eric
Cantor (R-Va.), the majority leader.
The GOP delegation is reportedly top heavy with freshmen brought to

Washington-based ambassadors from an array of small to midsize nations

meet with top Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as with some of
the U.S. Congress members and officials invested in Palestinian economic
development.
The Israel Project has launched a campaign against the expected bid
for Palestinian statehood recognition at the United Nations next month.
The group is emphasizing that economic development serves Palestinian
needs better than the U.N. bid.

Two congresswomen from Florida, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, have introduced legislation that
will allow Holocaust survivors living in the United States to receive
federal funds to help them stay in their homes, rather than having to
move to an institution. The bipartisan bill places survivors on a
special list of elderly citizens receiving preferred treatment through a
grant program to help them with their transportation and other needs.
“As a nation that upholds the values of freedom, liberty and justice,
we have a moral obligation to acknowledge the plight and uphold the
dignity of Holocaust survivors to ensure their well-being,” Wasserman
Schultz said. “We must do all we can to honor their struggles and their
lives by improving their access to transportation to get them where they
need to go, and improve their home-care options so that they can have
peace of mind. This bill does just that, and it’s time to make it
happen.”
Americans who really like Israel and everything that pertains to it
are certainly free to express their views, but there is something
unseemly and even grotesque about the continuous promotion of foreign
and ethnic group interests ahead of those of the United States and other
American citizens. AIPAC is a lobby dedicated to maintaining uncritical
US government support for a foreign country and it can be argued that
Washington entered into at least one foreign war because of it. The
congressmen who accept the junkets should be asking themselves whose
interests they are really serving. At a time when both Democrats and
Republicans are openly discussing cutting medical benefits for ordinary
Americans, it is also difficult to understand what twisted thinking
supports allocating additional taxpayer provided special medical
benefits to some medicare recipients based on events that took place
thousands of miles away from the US more than sixty-six years ago.
