According to a recent report in Tablet Magazine, Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, hired actors to call in as guests.
A website for the Premiere On Call service was taken offline before the report was published, but a cached version of the website is still available.
“I was surprised that it seemed so open,” the actor told me in an interview. “There was really no pretense of covering it up.”

Eight days ago, a group of Iranian student activists asked me to respond to some questions about the October Surprise case, allegations that Ronald Reagan’s campaign in 1980 sabotaged President Jimmy Carter’s attempts to free 52 Americans then held hostage in Iran.
Carter’s failure to secure the hostage release before the 1980 election opened the way to Reagan’s landslide victory and the turning of the United States sharply to the right. With the 30th anniversary of Reagan’s victory just days away, the students posed seven questions.
“Dear Mr. Robert Parry,” they wrote, “You have been persistently investigating the issue of American Hostages in Iran and their freedom in the early 80s, known as ‘October Surprise’. As a group of young student activists in Iran this is very important for us too since the Iranian people have paid a great price for this as well.”
After receiving my responses, a representative for the students e-mailed me with a request that the exchange be posted at the Consortiumnews.com Web site. (The students also asked that no further details about their identities be provided because of the uneasy political situation in Iran.)

After the accidental killing of nine Afghan boys in a NATO air attack, Afghanistan's president, Hamid Karzai, said that apologies were no longer sufficient for civilian deaths. General David Petraeus had personally expressed his regret for the children's deaths, saying that the killings were a mistake and that the helicopters thought they were engaging insurgents. The boys were out gathering firewood, and their deaths have been widely mourned across Afghanistan. There were protests in Kabul where demonstrators carried images of Afghans killed or wounded in recent airstrikes, and even burned an effigy of Obama.

ReplyDeleteWhy was I listening to it? Just lucky. Those posts I actually heard on the radio, went home, and the transcripts were there. That's how STUPID he is: he puts the transcripts up so we can examine how FAKE they are.
Like an ATHEIST would be listening to Rush Limbaugh. Why was I listening to him? So I can post about his BULLSHIT first hand!

I think Chalmers philosophical naivety, knowingly or otherwise, is illustrated by allowing Wolin to get away with the following: "inverted totalitarianism has emerged imperceptibly, unpremeditatedly, and in seeming unbroken continuity with the nation’s political traditions.” I think it is safe to say that there is nothing about America's imperialistic history (or any of her history for that matter) that would be considered unpremeditated if one considers the European elites' interests in organizing our political, economic, and all other institutions in a manner that would most benefit them.
ReplyDeleteAnd again on page three (paragraph 4) of the review, Johnson goes on the speak of the American peoples' complicity with these "imperialistic ventures" ... as though the America people have no recollection of the very sophisticated physchological operations that have been conducted on them to make them mare malleable to the goals that had long been in the works.
I'm a fan of Johnson and he is exactly right in his concerns about American empire as he articulates in his "Blowback Series". If I understand his background correctly however, he was strong supporter of American military adventures before he wasn't.
