Before I get into "prison for profit" privatizing/corporatizing prisons in Arizona on the pretense of stoking fear against illegal immigrants all the while hiding GOP ties to the Arizona for-profit prison industry, I would like to remind everyone of what the results will be:

Matthew Simmons: "We've Now Killed The Gulf Of Mexico"
Prominent oil investor Matt Simmons died of a heart attack last night at his home in North Haven, Maine, according to police reports.
The famed energy banker was a prominent proponent of peak oil theory, and most recently got attention for his dire calls about the fate of the Gulf of Mexico.
The debate about the effect of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill -- he thought it would be cataclysmic -- lead him to split with his old firm, Simmons & Co., of which he was the chairman emeritus.
His legacy will no doubt be his work on peak oil and resource scarcity.

Seriously odd on several levels.
ReplyDeleteStart with a black woman calling a white woman to ask how she (the black woman) ought to feel about being a black woman married to a white man in America - and the related stereotypical comments that surround that condition.
Add to that this faux-therapist's outright dismissal of the caller's genuine concerns.
Top that off with Dr. Laura's rapid-fire N-word repetition, with said disturbed caller on the line, and you're left with a hodgepodge of WTF, and why does this disfunction become news?
The answer is that it is divisive, and further bolsters the divide & conquer schemes of the masters of the universe. Any "news" that promotes a split public opinion on any topic, that's what we get to see on the TeeVee.

The attorney general is considering re-opening the inquest into the death of government scientist David Kelly, it has emerged.
A spokesman for Dominic Grieve, who has the power to go to the high court and ask for a new inquest, said he was reviewing the case in light of fresh calls for the weapon inspector's death to be investigated.
"He remains concerned about this matter and is considering how to take it forward with his ministerial colleagues," said the spokesman.
The move comes after nine experts, including Michael Powers, a QC and former coroner, and Julian Blon, a professor of intensive care medicine, called for a full inquest into Kelly's death saying the official finding – hemorrhage from the severed artery – was "extremely unlikely".

The following is a joint letter sent by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) and Veterans for Common Sense (VCS) to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. The military's practice of substituting religion for professional mental health care for PTSD and suicide prevention has become increasingly frequent, with alarming reports coming in to MRFF from active duty troops, and reports coming in to VCS from veterans who were subjected to this practice while on active duty and are now suffering the consequences of not getting the professional help they needed when they needed it.
