Big Dan's Big News March 6, 2010

People the mainstream media, the military, the government, schools, and the wealthy don't want you to remember:

Wikipedia: Smedley Butler - (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940), nicknamed "The Fighting Quaker" and "Old Gimlet Eye", was a Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps and, at the time of his death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history.

Smedley Butler - War is a Racket!

...but Obama said the $1.5 TRILLION war budget is "untouchable"...and let's not talk about off-budget war appropriations!

A measure to give some 57 million elderly people, veterans and persons with disabilities a $250 check was rejected by the Senate on Wednesday.

Dennis Kucinich: Trillions for Wars, no money for the American people:

BBC Documentary: The White House Coup, a plot of Wall St. interests to overthrow President Roosevelt and establish a fascist dictatorship.

The "Business Plot" (also the Plot Against FDR and the White House Putsch) was an alleged political conspiracy in 1933 wherein wealthy businessmen and corporations plotted a coup détat to overthrow United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1934, the Business Plot was publicly revealed by retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler testifying to the McCormack-Dickstein Congressional Committee. In his testimony, Butler claimed that a group of men had approached him as part of a plot to overthrow Roosevelt in a military coup. One of the alleged plotters, Gerald MacGuire, vehemently denied any such plot. In their final report, the Congressional committee supported Butler's allegations of the existence of the plot, but no prosecutions or further investigations followed, and the matter was mostly forgotten.

On July 17, 1932, thousands of World War I veterans converged on Washington, D.C., set up tent camps, and demanded immediate payment of bonuses due them according to the Adjusted Service Certificate Law of 1924. This "Bonus Army" was led by Walter W. Waters, a former Army sergeant. The Army was encouraged by an appearance from retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler, who had considerable influence over the veterans, being one of the most popular military figures of the time. A few days after Butler's arrival, President Herbert Hoover ordered the marchers removed, and their camps were destroyed by US Army cavalry troops under the command of General Douglas MacArthur. Butler, although a self-described Republican, responded by supporting Roosevelt in that year's election.

In a 1995 History Today article Clayton Cramer argued that the devastation of the Great Depression had caused many Americans to question the foundations of liberal democracy. "Many traditionalists, here and in Europe, toyed with the ideas of Fascism and National Socialism; many liberals dallied with Socialism and Communism." Cramer argues that this explains why some American business leaders viewed fascism as a viable system to both preserve their interests and end the economic woes of the Depression.

If the United States had a functioning criminal justice system for the powerful – not just for run-of-the-mill offenders – former Vice President Dick Cheney would have convicted himself and some of his Bush administration colleagues with his comments on ABC’s “This Week.”

One of THE reasons for the financial crisis in America: outsourcing of our jobs! American multi-national corporations roaming the world for the cheapest, most vulnerable labor. The elephant in the room during the U.S. financial crisis is the media and government coverup of naming the corporations front and center who are outsourcing even though Americans are unemployed:

We live in a time where a 25 year old rightwing punk can create a hoax video and the congress rushes through legislation to defund their target based on the video with no trial. Then when there's a trial and the results are ACORN is not guilty and the perpetrator is found to have edited the video to suit their agenda, the congress still keeps the legislation and the (not) "liberal media" doesn't issue retractions. Then with something important like health care where 45,000 Americans are dying a year, they say they can't rush through legislation, it's impossible:

  2. O'Keefe is just a little dirty trickster. He's shit. He matters for shit. There is all kinds of hugely consequential shit coming down and who on earth gives a crap about this stupid little O'Keefe twaddle? Jesus! They're drum beating to attack Iran. We're still slaughtering innocents. Methane is bubbling up out of the permafrost. OBAMA'S BIG SOLUTION TO OUTSOURCING IS TO JUST NOT COUNT THE OUTSOURCED JOBS. I could go on and on and on and on... SO THE FUCK WHAT ABOUT O'KEEFE? I'll tell you what. If Brad can succeed in making a hairy enough deal about it, BRAD will become more well known. Along the way, he also inflates Breitbart's numbers. PERIOD. This is the kind of thinking that blocks mental clarity, creates partisan bickering while the world blows up.

DANNY! You are too good a man to fall for this crap.

I figure if you will be a troll on my blog, I will return the favor........

O'Keefe isn't a "little deal". If people like him can make hoax videos to defund entire organizations for the poor, that is a BIG deal and must be exposed.

I agree with Obama and that outsourcing article, but also with exposing O'Keefe and having him permanently taken down.

  5. The O'Keefe thing PROVES the mainstream media isn't liberal and it's corrupted. If a 25 year old rightwing punk can create a hoax video where our congress then rushes through emergency legistlation to defund it, that's HUGE in my opinion. A liberal can't do that!

  7. Everything's made in China or some 3rd world country. U.S. corporations roam the world to find the cheapest, most vulnerable labor, even child labor, to bypass U.S. labor laws. The elephant in the room with soaring U.S. unemployment is U.S. corporations outsourcing American jobs and the media and government not reporting the statistics.

  8. It's getting beyond pathetic here!

Several local counties hav already started and others are ready to jump on the bandwagon...

$300 fee to call 911. This fee applies to the caller and the victim.
So if you are in a car wreck, the person who calls 911 is charged $300 and so are you - regardless if you wanted them called or not.

So here's the scenario... All incidents which have happened to me - all times I called 911.

Neighbor gets in fist fight with a lady who almost hit his car as he pushed it and let it roll uncontrolled out of his driveway. Neighbor's wife comes running out of the house with a 12" serrated bread knife making stabbing motions as in "Psycho" while holding her 3 week old granddaughter under her other arm. Do I call 911 to report it, or do I save $300 and watch and wait for police to happen along?

Stupid kid on bicycle hangs onto moving car. As they pass my house kid falls and gets sucked under the rear wheels of the car. His head is crushed on the pavement. Do I cough up $300 and call, or do I leave his body lay there in the street? (My youngest daughter watched the whole thing happen - she was 8 at the time - fucked her head up for years - she still wont get on a bike.)

Young man in car, 4:00 Am, hanging out in front of our house. Over the next hour he honks at several passing cars and takes off after them only to return minutes later. His actions seem centered around the neighbor's house across the street. Several times he gets out and looks over their fence. Do I spend $300 and report this suspicious behavior, or do I go back to bed? (It turned out he was recently released from prison, was driving a stolen car, dealing meth out of the car and was breaking a restraining order by stalking the neighbor's daughter.)

Someone pounds on my door - "your house is on fire!" Running out front I see flames rising from my back yard. Running out back I find the garage on fire. Do I spend $300 to save it, or do I go get marshmallows? Insurance deductible is $500. For $200 - new garage? Hmmm Burn baby burn!
(My daughters and the neighbor boys had just seen the first Harry Potter movie. They got together in the garage and made a "potion" which consisted of a nearly empty jug of laundry detergent into which they added Coleman stove fuel and spa oxidizer. They then left it sitting in the garage. About 3 hours later it ignited. My wife had been in there about 5 minutes before the knock on the door.)

A wonderful link to one of my favorite progressive bands from the 70s. Renaissance. I have all of their albums. This was the closest thing they had to a hit single, "Northern Lights". Annie is in fine form here as usual with her multi octave voice. Renaissance had class, style and most of all, talent to burn!...all with classical influence. Try to listen to some Renaissance and you will discover what true musical talent is.

  21. OK, I removed some comments. I posted some Bill Maher videos and something was fishy. On the one video it cuts off a great interview with Michael Moore and then says to go to some website to see the entire episode. Then it asks you a short quiz, which was fun. Then it says it wants your cell phone # to "email you the results". And I couldn't get past that. Bottom line: they want your cell phone number.

So, fuck you, buddy! I'll get a different Bill Maher video!

  32. Proposed 28th Amendment to the U S Constitution

    Description:
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives and all other branches of the Government; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives and all other branches of the Government that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States".

Each person should contact minimum of twenty people on their Friends list and personal email list, and, in turn ask each of those to do the same.

Then in three days, all people in The United States of America will have the Message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Insurers Set To Raise Prices, Walk Away From Consumers: Goldman Report

The market concentration for health insurance is so monopolized in some areas that insurance companies are willing to raise prices and lose customers in an effort to improve their bottom line, a leading insurance broker told Wall Street analysts on Wednesday.

In a conference call organized by Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research, Steve Lewis, a highly regarded broker at the world's third largest insurance broker, Willis, painted a picture of the health insurance market in which employers seem likely to be priced out of coverage.

Noting that "price competition" between insurers was "down from a year ago," Lewis relayed that "incumbent carriers seem more willing than ever to walk away from existing business."

The phenomenon of insurers pricing their policies beyond where consumers can afford it seems to be already taking place. Last month Anthem Blue Cross told customers it would hike their health insurance premiums by as much as 39 percent (with the expectation that some would drop coverage altogether). In December, the Huffington Post reported that Aetna was planning on losing more than 600,000 customers by raising prices on their consumers in 2010.

Mark DeMoss, who heads a major Christian public relations firm in Atlanta and served as a liaison to the Evangelical community for Mitt Romney in 2008, wrote Chairman Michael Steele yesterday that he was "ashamed" of the presentation, calling depictions of Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Majority Leader Harry Reid "shameful, immature and uncivil, at best."
