Big Dan's Big News Nov 21, 2010

Merry Christmas from WILK & the Republicans: millions of unemployed Americans will lose their unemployment benefits over the Christmas holidays thanks to the Republicans blocking an extension, all the while being cheerleaded by millionaires in rightwing media!!!

bd: I'm not an expert, but one thing is for sure: it's unprecedented in American history not to pass an unemployment extension with the unemployment rate this high. Add to it that's it's exactly before Christmas. You would think Big Business would be chiming in against the Republicans. Extending unemployment can only be a win for both unemployed Americans AND businesses during Christmas. The Republicans are always saying what "the American people" want. Well, I think if they were polled, 95% of "the American people" would want their fellow unemployed Americans to have Christmas money. And no one's buying the Republicans' flimsy ridiculous excuses for their War on Americans lately. You can only go to the well "x" amount of times when you keep consistently targeting the middle class and poor with the "excuses", before it's clear to everyone that you are only for the super rich. I think people are actually catching on to this, because I expected the GOP to take over the Senate like in 1994, and they didn't. And we will be closely watching what they do for the next two years. So far, they're not looking into creating more jobs, but they have blocked unemployment, equal pay for women, birther legislation, pining to attack Iran, they want to extend tax cuts for millionaires, and they want to repeal health care. And they didn't even officially take over the House yet.

House Republicans Block Unemployment Benefits Extension

House Republicans today blocked an effort to maintain federal unemployment insurance (UI) benefits, making a lapse in benefits all but certain when they expire at the end of the month.

"There was a time when everyone took it for granted that unemployment insurance, which normally terminates after 26 weeks, would be extended in times of persistent joblessness. It was, most people agreed, the decent thing to do":

Why Republicans continually block unemployment: we’re facing a coalition of the heartless, the clueless and the confused

ONE OLD MAN'S OPINION

50% of Congress' Millionaires (the Republicans) vote against extending unemployment for Americans during Christmas:

Mr. Scrooge Goes to Washington & Blocks Unemployment Insurance

GOP KILLS UNEMPLOYMENT EXT. TO MILLIONS WHILE PUSHING TAX CUTS TO THE RICHEST

...but 50 Republicans sent a letter to President Obama to attack Iran. It seems they care more about Israelis than Americans:

And they voted to give an award to a football coach. Who said congress can't work together???

What Republicans think of unemployed Americans:

Ben Stein: Unemployed Lazy, Unpleasant

GOP: Unemployed Are Lazy Drug Addicts

The unemployed are just plain lazy???

Remember Jim Bunning-R??? He missed his basketball game to obstruct unemployment:

FLASHBACK: Jim Bunning-R is pissed he has to miss basketball game to take a stand on unemployment.

Bunning: My Obstruction Of Unemployment Extension Made Me Miss My Basketball Game

FLASHBACK: Right-wing media praise Bunning for blocking worker pay, relief to unemployed

Angle: Unemployed are "Spoiled"; It's not my job to fight for Nevadans' jobs

Republicans To Unemployed: You're Spoiled, Drug-Taking Hobos & Animals, Who Shouldn't Breed.

Bush confesses to war crimes on TV, nothing happens to him: Bush's Waterboarding Confession Provokes Outrage. Bush admitted to Matt Lauer of NBC's "Today" program that he authorized the use of waterboarding on two CIA prisoners. He said further that the technique was legal and that he would make the same decision again.

This is absolutely incredible: Wouldn't It be nice a capella - no music, just vocals - CRANK THIS UP AS LOUD AS YOU CAN -

    Love,

"All of the Oligarchs who pulled-off 9/11 and destroyed the system, specifically to ensure you can't.

Just send all of your tax dollars to Israel, the Rockefellers, Rothschilds and The Crown, and STFU!

Too bad you can't afford to purchase any Gulf seafood, because we'd like to poison & kill you with it."

  3. My take on what the Republicans are doing, is it may work when things aren't that bad...but they're that bad. And the well has got to run dry for them. There's just too many Americans suffering.

  4. There's a video somewhere, I wish I could find it right now...of people protesting a Bilderberg meeting and some Bilderbergers come out and say something like, "This is why there shouldn't be welfare and unemployment, these people wouldn't have the time to be protesting us".

  6. As you can see from the videos I posted, there's a lot of pissed unemployed Americans. These videos are from regular people, only a few hundred hits or so, but there's lots of them. I just posted a few. You won't see these people on TV. You'll just see Republicans on TV saying they're really helping them by voting against unemployment.

If you recall, Reagan did the same thing, google it. Reagan started taxing unemployment, his reason? He was "helping" unemployed people. Reagan wanted to lower the minimum wage, look it up. His reason? He was "helping" workers. Do they really think people buy this? Of course, they are the ones on TV all the time, though, so it doesn't matter. With the lapdog media on their side.

One time I extensively looked up what the media including the NYTimes was saying at the time of Reagan, and they were on his side. Yes, taxing unemployment and lowering the minimum wage would "help" the unemployed and working poor. Because taxing unemployment would make it less attractive to be unemployed, and lowering the minimum wage would create more jobs. Check it out for yourself.

Yes, lowering the minimum wage would create jobs. Here's how: a business could have TWO workers @ $3.50/hour instead of paying ONE worker $7/hour. See? Twice as many jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. But one thing I have to say: Republicans are great at tricking people into voting against their own interests. It's astounding. Same as the TeaBaggers carrying the water for billionaires. You saw how quickly the GOP took over the Tea Party and had them picketing to get rid of the "death tax".
