Please tell me if you're getting "moderation". I added all those above to the "whitelist", which looks like they were originally put on a "blacklist" when they think it's spam. Then anything from the email address on the blacklisted comment (spam), that person goes right into moderation. Then I think I have clicked off in my email that I don't want any emails from Discus because you get them for so many reasons, I turned it off. So I would've normally (I think) gotten an email saying "a comment is awaiting your moderation" (I'm guessing).
ReplyDeleteBut I still don't know why Discus decided at some point in time to "moderate" comments from Z, plunger, and BB2. I definitely didn't do that. And what's funny, not ALL their comments, only SOME of them!
Ha! All of BB2's comments from yesterday showed up in yesterday's thread!

BB2 did. This would reinforce my theory. Also, I believe Z changed his email recently. It probably detects that the SAME userid has a different email combination, and it assumes SPAM. Just a theory.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, haloscan had nothing strict about it at all. So I got used to never logging into ADMIN and checking things like spam. Haloscan never tagged anything as spam, I don't even recall haloscan having that feature.

I didn't change my email here in disqus, I've always used my gmail address here. The address I changed was our personal family address. We dropped AT&T and there SBCglobal email in favor of Comcast super high speed internet.
ReplyDeleteSo far that has only panned out to be a comedy of errors. When the salesman came he noticed our Dish Satellite dish and assumed we had Dish. I didn't tell him we had dropped it six months ago so he worked up a good deal for us. Then he called back the next day needing a copy of a current Dish billing. I had to cop to not having one which blew that deal. He came back the next day with a different deal, $10/month more, but basically the same package so we went for that one. The appointment for last Saturday to install the equipment was rescheduled to this coming Saturday.
A week ago Monday they were supposed to run the cable up to the house. When that hadn't happened by Friday I called to find out what was going on. They told me they had come out to see what would be required and would be back yesterday to run the cable. (The old cable was torn down the the big storm several years ago.)
The equipment installer ended up showing up last Saturday while my wife and I were clear across town buying a used car and only my 17 year old daughter was home so he couldn't come in.
So far - no cable to the house yet - getting frustrated, about to call it all off.
Then to add to the excitement, when we left the car lot with our "new" 2002 Saturn I was following my wife and saw that the brake lights weren't working so I pulled alongside her and told her to take it back. We're waiting now for the call to come to pick it up with its brand new electrical system - they had to replace a bunch of parts including some control module. They're not going to be making much off of this car - they had already marked it down $1,000 for the sale they were having.
Same e-mail here. How and why did Dusqus suddenly become the default blogger platform on multiple blogs? Something smells.
ReplyDeleteI haven't registered with DisQus so the first time I come here after booting my computer and comment DisQus prompts me to join or post as a guest. I choose guest and it sends me an email. I don't respond to the email - It looks like if you do it will start spamming you with comments.

ReplyDeleteWhen Haloscan went "social networking" and pay for service many blogs were left with the need to find a new commenting system. While I chose to revert to the Blogger system, as limited as it is, Dan and many others opted for DisQus. After that it just kind of spread around.
AND TO THINK I ALMOST WENT TO DISQUSS.

ReplyDeleteI took it because I saw it on Raw Story. Maybe you're on to something. I hated haloscan. You had to wait 1 minute or more while you posted something, then they wanted to start charging you! Charge you for CRAP! For a bad product!
ReplyDeleteThe spam thing with Discus: I have no idea why Discus took it upon themselves via their software to start tagging regular commenters as spam.
The only thing I can say for it, is if I had emails from Discus turned on, maybe I would've gotten an email saying I needed to moderate a comment and would've noticed it sooner.
Thank god it didn't stop ALL your comments and it was intermittent, so in the intermittent times it DIDN'T spam you, you were able to tell me you were getting tagged with "moderation".
I wrote Z an email asking if that's why he stopped commenting, no answer yet.
I noticed Z changed his email, too, and so did BB2, so I thought that was the reason. That's if this other guy who was getting tagged spam was Z, which I think it was, because the commenting was typical of Z.

Drumbo can tell you this...one time he called a credit card company and pretended he was his wife, high voice and everything. The guy said "I don't think you're a woman", and Drumbo started arguing with the person, but he said he began to sweat because it was going too far and he had to keep going with it. He might have accused the guy of insulting him because he didn't sound "feminine". If I remember correctly.

As I was screwing around in Discus, I found where you can add "recent comments" to the right side of my blog, so "recent comments" is back, under the picture of me with my Fender Jazz Bass.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school in Wisconsin we kept getting phone calls for one of the airlines - American Airlines I think. Most people would apologize for bothering us and didn't call back. Some would make a second call for confirmation that they had the wrong number.
One day this guy called and called a second time and then a third by which point he became very abusive to my mom, yelling and cursing at her. Nearly had her in tears. She hung up on him and he called right back. My mom's friend from Georgia was visiting and she jumped up and grabbed the phone answering in the thickest southern accent "American Airlines" and proceeded to book him a flight. When she was done and hung up we were all rolling on the floor laughing!
Is there a way on your end to make the page reload to where you left off? Now, any time you click a link, you're returned to the top of the page when you return? On long comment lists like today's it's a bitch to find where you were every time.
