McCain Reacts To McClellan: ‘Every Intelligence Agency In The World And Every Assessment’ Said Iraq Had WMD...the problem with this statement? IT'S NOT TRUE!!!!!

...more on the rightwing media propagandist front:

Mark Impomeni is a blogger/propagandist at AOL's “Political Machine” and at RedState.com. You can read the back story to this video at this post and read my back and forth with Impomeni at this article he wrote about Karl Rove's appearance on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The gist of the story is that despite Karl Rove repeatedly refusing to deny involvement in the Don Siegelman prosecution to Stephanopoulos, Impomeni headlined his story about the interview, “Rove Denies Tampering With Investigation”. This is precisely the type of cover Rove was looking for from the media despite his careful language never denying anything.

When confronted with many examples of headlines opposite to his own, Impomeni wrote: “If this were any other figure but Rove, the media would be reporting the comments exactly as I am”. Thus, Impomeni thinks himself the only one with any journalistic integrity. But it gets worse:

“Raw Story, Josh Marshall, The Carpetbagger Report, Mother Jones, Huffington Post, News Corpse, Veracifier, and Crooks and Liars at a minimum are hardly bastions of independent and unbiased journalism. I personally would also question MSNBC and Dan Abrams.”

Hence the video labeling Mark Impomeni “Today's Worst Person In The World”.

DEMOCRATIC LEADERS: TIME TO END THE PRIMARY

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After calling the military dead in Arlington "awesome", Bush says 6 years into the War of LIES, after a million dead Iraqi civilians, over 4,000 dead American soldiers, tens-of-thousands maimed, Americans & Iraqi's dying from depleted uranium, a billion tax dollars a week:"we're learning as we go".

Who's we...btw...you and...??? So, first you LIED us into a war, and now you are admitting that you don't know what the fuck you're doing and you're "learning as you go along"? Oh! No rush! We didn't know that! You're "learning as you go along"! Take your time! We didn't know that! Continue to ruin the our country and the world and kill people while you're learning! Why didn't you just say this 6 years ago? I think you're learning everything as you go along. Whaddya tink about dat!

President Bush said Wednesday that rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan is proving difficult as the wars rage on, and "we're learning as we go."

The Army recorded 115 soldiers' suicides in 2007, the highest total since it started counting in 1980, the service announced Thursday. That's more than twice the 52 suicides in 2001, the low point reached as the war on terrorism started.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice sought here Thursday to rally international support for Iraq while denying new charges the Bush administration misled the public into invading the country.

Ex-Bush Aide: McClellan Getting Ripped For Telling The Truth

Gingrich thinks Bush is doing a good job when we're attacked...and when we're not attacked...it's "all good" with Bush! According to Gingrich: He did a good job when he didn't prevent the 9/11 attacks, he's doing a good job preventing attacks since 9/11...but it's too bad we don't have a 'reminder attack' now, to remind people of the good job he's doing...if we had another attack!?!?! Newt Gingrich is FULL OF SHIT! He's saying, we should like Bush whether we get attacked or not! WTF? Does he think we're stupid?

Gingrich quips Bush should have allowed some 'reminder' attacks

Speaking a month after the Democratic Party had recaptured majorities in both houses of Congress, and just following his own resignation as Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld suggested that a new 9/11 could be the corrective for American complacency:

When will the Republicans introduce legislation for retroactive immunity for the bankers? Just wonderin'.......

NPR: A big unanswered question is whether the Wall Street investment banks that were packaging these mortgages knew they were selling garbage loans to investors. A wave of litigation is starting against these firms. One former worker whose job was to catch bad loans says her supervisors covered them up.

This is what happens because of unAmerican hate-mongers like Michelle Malkin:

A report that mosques in Los Angeles and San Diego are under federal surveillance has resurrected fears in the Muslim community about government monitoring and led two civil rights groups Wednesday to call for congressional hearings.

The former chief military prosecutor for terrorism trials at Guantanamo Bay thinks the Defense Department has punished him for testifying publicly that he faced political pressure to speed up the cases and to use evidence derived from torture.

Defense lawyers accused the government of rushing defendants accused in the Sept.11, 2001, terror attacks to trial at Guantánamo to influence the U.S. presidential elections, and asked a military judge to dismiss the case in a court filing obtained Thursday.

On Wednesday night, CNN's Jessica Yellin talked to Anderson Cooper about Scott McClellan's tell-all memoir and agreed with the former press secretary that White House reporters "dropped the ball" during the run-up to war. But Yellin went much further, revealing that news executives--presumably at ABC News, where she'd worked from July 2003 to August 2007--actively pushed her not do hard-hitting pieces on the Bush administration.

Israel Bars One of its Most Prominent Critics, Norman Finkelstein, for 10 Years

Norman Finkelstein was arrested and deported from Israel last week and told he’s barred for ten years. Finkelstein is known one of the most prominent academic critics of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. We speak to Finkelstein and the human rights worker he was on his way to visit, Musa Abu Hashhash.

The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz has published an editorial criticizing the Israeli government’s decision to ban American academic Norman Finkelstein from entering the country. Last Friday, Finkelstein was arrested at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv and questioned by the Shin Bet security service for several hours. It later became known that he had been banned from entering Israel for 10 years, for so-called “security reasons.”

Finkelstein is known one of the most prominent academic critics of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. The Ha’aretz editorial reads in part: “Considering his unusual and extremely critical views, one cannot avoid the suspicion that refusing to allow him to enter Israel was a punishment rather than a precaution….The right to enter Israel is not guaranteed to noncitizens, but the right of Israeli citizens to hear unusual views is one that should be fought for. It is not for the government to decide which views should be heard here and which ones should not. The decision to ban Finkelstein hurts us more than it hurts him.”

Norman Finkelstein joins me now in the firehouse studio. We are also joined on the telephone from Hebron by Musa Abu Hashhash, Professor Finkelstein’s friend whom Norman had intended to visit. We called the Israeli embassy and New York consulate to invite them on the program but they declined our requests.

Maybe we're NOT so stupid! The Department of Transportation said figures from March show the steepest decrease in driving ever recorded. Compared with March a year earlier, Americans drove an estimated 4.3 percent less -- that's 11 billion fewer miles, the DOT's Federal Highway Administration said Monday, calling it "the sharpest yearly drop for any month in FHWA history." Records have been kept since 1942.

Wake up! People! More on the propaganda front!

By Williams' estimation, the government's calculation that unemployment was 5 percent in April and that inflation was 4 percent and economic growth 2 percent over the last year, is fantasy. It might even be disinformation.

The New Jersey native is leading a one-man crusade to expose official economic data as grossly misleading at best and, at worst, a pack of lies. His Shadow Government Statistics Web site (shadowstats.com) has become a magnet for those convinced that official data put a happy-talk gloss on the nation's economy. The growing popularity of the site, which costs subscribers $175 a year, is testimony to the deep suspicion many Americans harbor about government information as the economy falls into a swoon.

Did you see this on corporate ANBCBSNNX? It's not worth a mention? Wake up!

The American academic Norman Finkelstein has been arrested and ordered deported from Israel. Finkelstein arrived in Tel Aviv earlier today on his way to the Occupied Territories. The “Golden Voice of the Great Southwest”: Legendary Folk Musician, Activist Utah Phillips, 1935-2008

Utah Phillips, the legendary folk musician and peace and labor activist, has died at the age of seventy-three. Over the span of nearly four decades, Utah Phillips worked in what he referred to as “the Trade,” performing tirelessly throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The son of labor organizers, Phillips was a lifelong member of the Industrial Workers of the World, known as the Wobblies. As a teenager, he ran away from home and started living as a hobo who rode the rails and wrote songs about his experiences. In 1956, he joined the Army and served in the Korean War, an experience he would later refer to as the turning point of his life. In 1968, he ran for the US Senate on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket. For the past twenty-one years he lived in Nevada City, where he started a nationally syndicated folk music radio show. He also helped found the Hospitality House homeless shelter and the Peace and Justice Center. We spend the hour with an interview with Phillips from January 2004.

ABC's George Stephanopoulos talked with Karl Rove about his role in the prosecution of Alabama Governor Don Siegelman. Rove repeated the claim that he learned about the prosecution in the newspaper but refused to deny that he had contacted the Justice Department to discuss the prosecution.

So, if Obama beats Hillary, you'd rather vote for John McCain, a man who has a 25-year history of voting against a woman's right to choose? A man who over the last eight years that NARAL has released a pro-choice scorecard has received a 0 percent rating (in his time in office, Obama has received a 100 percent rating)? A man whose campaign website says he believes Roe v. Wade "must be overturned"? A man who has vowed that, as president, he will be "a loyal and unswerving friend of the right to life movement"?

If John McCain goes ballistic every time he's mildly criticized by Barack Obama, this is going to be a much more interesting campaign than I thought. Yesterday Obama said this:

The steady disclosures of past lobbying activity by campaign aides, and the struggle to minimize firings, continue to plague John McCain's presidential campaign -- but the reality is that these problems only get worse the deeper anyone digs. Think about the Bush administrations ties to big oil the next time you're pumping in $58 for a tank of gas!

History Flashback: In 2001, Chevron changed the name of it's oil tanker "Condoleezza Rice", so it wouldn't be a huge, floating reminder of the Bush administration's ties to the oil barons. No, I am not kidding. Rice was on the board of Chevron for 10 years before being named to the Bush cabinet, and Chevron actually named one of their oil tankers after her. Think about THAT when you're filling up your gas tank next time!

George W. Bush, 1978-84: senior executive, Arbusto Energy/Bush Exploration, an oil company; 1986-90: senior executive of the Harken oil company. Dick Cheney, 1995-2000: chief executive of the Halliburton oil company. Condoleezza Rice, 1991-2000: senior executive with the Chevron oil company, which named an oil tanker after her.

Prior to taking a position as President George W. Bush’s Chief of Staff, Andrew Card served as the principle lobbyist for General Motors. Just one year earlier, Card was head of the American Automobile Manufacturers Association (AAMA, which is no longer in existence), where he used his lobbying skills to combat the tightening of fuel efficiency regulations. Card contributed close to $10,000 to the political campaigns between 1999 and 2000, and General Motors gave approximately $813 million in campaign funds, 68% of which went to the Republican Party.

2001 Flashback: Leaving a wave of controversy in its wake, one of the most visible reminders of the Bush administration's ties to big oil - the 129,000-ton Chevron tanker Condoleezza Rice - has quietly been renamed, Chevron officials acknowledged yesterday.

I predicted a while back, $4/gallon by Memorial Day...looks like we're almost there!

This syndicated propagana story was in the local Wilkes-Barre Citizen's Voice this morning:

BAGHDAD - The U.S. ambassador to Iraq said Saturday that al-Qaida's network in the country has never been closer to defeat, and he praised Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for his moves to rein in Shiite and Sunni militant groups.

But NOW...I find THIS story on the CV's website, and not the one that was in the paper!

BAGHDAD (AP) -- The U.S. military distanced itself Sunday from remarks declaring al-Qaida in Iraq close to defeat, saying the terror network is "off-balance and on the run," but remains a very lethal threat.

And then, read THIS:

Iran brokered a temporary peace between two warring factions of the American-backed government – in part to keep American forces, particularly airpower, from turning Sadr City into a charnel house. But that is not how it was portrayed by the ever-faithful toter of White House water, Michael Gordon, of the NYTimes!

Ironically, the book that got me interested in politics years ago.

This is why I hate Republicans! Comedian Al Franken is running for Senator in Minnesota. The Minnesota Republican Party on Thursday circulated a letter from GOP women calling on Franken to apologize for a sexually explicit satire he wrote for Playboy magazine 8 years ago. First of all, I guess it didn't bother them back then. Second? He's a comedian and it was comedy from 8 years ago! 'Porn-O-Rama!' describes a fantasy visit that Franken makes to a virtual sex institute, guided by a voluptuous futurist trained in Minnesota. Franken writes that 'since I've been married 23 years, I naturally chose' virtual oral sex, and he describes the experience in explicit detail. Sex with robots! Gee, sounds like what it's probably like, married to these GOP women!

Sex with machines? It was a joke. Al Franken, the humorist and satirist running for the Senate in Minnesota, has written and told many of them in his time. Republican Lou Barletta says that Democrat Paul Kanjorski has "indicted himself" and "the whole Democratic Party by admitting to deceiving the people to get elected." He ignores, of course, that the Republican Party jackasses are the ones who got us into this war of lies in the first place and have no intention of every getting us out, costing us a billion dollars a week. But I guess Barletta is used to costing the taxpayers $$$, he cost them a million dollars with an illegal immigration ordinance that all experts said he would lose...but he did it anyway. It was exposed that his website for this was started by Rick Santorum staffers, isn't that deception? I'm voting for the jackass I know, I don't want to find out how much the jackass I don't know is going to cost me!

For those of you who say Obama isn't being specific on the issues, how about this one-trick pony with his illegal immigration issue?
